TEGANS AUSTRALIAN COBBERDOGS
About Me
Many years ago I had a dream!
I was raised in the world of dog breeding and competing, I shared the heartache of seeing my and my mother's beloved dogs fall victim to hereditary diseases and disorders.
As a young adult I learned of the experiment of crossing Labrador Retrievers with Poodles in an effort to produce non shedding service dogs. Unfortunately the experiment failed with only a small percentage becoming allergy friendly service dogs, but the Idea captivated me and I continued the experiment.
I learned I needed more than just the two breeds to set a consistent quality and type, After studying several possibilities available in Australia at the time I decided to introduce breeds from the gundog group due to their amiable temperaments. My dream started to become a reality. I shared my excitement with my mother and In 1998 I gave her two females I was really exhited about, and so Tegan Park Labradoodle Breeding and Research Center was Officially born along with Rutland Manor Labradoodles.
Then the Desktop computer was born along with the internet and word of our amazing dogs went global it was time to change the name to Australian Labradoodle setting them apart from the Labrador poodle cross. Our Australian Labradoodles took the world by storm with their allergy friendly coats and amazing intuitive temperaments.
It is estimated today to be up to 1000 breeders of Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle world wide. Much has changed over the last decade and the Australian Labradoodle has become commercialized it is now dominated by Cocker Spaniel crossing, they are very pretty in a huge variety of colours but they have lost the tegan temperament and character that originally made them so much loved.
Divorce and Cancer almost closed my dream forever but my mother never forgot the day Anna and her sister changed her life, She gave me the beautiful Rutlands Amelia who in turn gave me two wonderful litters. After searching high and low I found some wonderful dogs with my original true bloodlines, with them and frozen semen from some of our greatest Australian Labradoodles my dream to develop the world's most versatile intuitive non shedding non smelling healthiest breed in the world rekindled.
It was time for a new chapter, new breeds were added to the old bloodlines and our new breed emerged.
In 2012 Master Dog Breeders and Associates accepted our new breed into the Breed development studbook
We named this breed THE AUSTRALIAN COBBERDOG it is as perfect as the dogs themselves, with country of origin AUSTRALIA and their purpose COBBER meaning best mate, friend, buddy, pal.
Today I share my passion with my adored husband Len on a beautiful small river side property in the subtropics of the Northern Rivers NSW Australia

With the popularity of the Australian Cobberdog many people are registering themselves as breeders and learning as they go, the downside to this is their lack of knowledge and understanding of animal breeding. you will find few breeders actually know the difference between assistant dog temperament and therapy dog temperament and how to work with these temperaments to maintain perfect consistency in both temperament types. This really highlights the need to ask your questions and do your own du diligence research before putting your trust into a breeder.
